The Markham Family

Sit down with the Markham family, members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, as they give you a glimpse into their life.

Transcript:

Evie:

Hello, my name is Evie, welcome to the Markham Family!

Ross:

We’re Ross and Charlotte Markham. I was born and bred in a little town called Godalming in Surrey. My wife Charlotte was born in Evesham in Worcestershire.

Charlotte:

We got married in 2003, and I moved down to Godalming, where we had a daughter in 2004.

Ross:

From there, we moved to Hereford in 2006, and we have spent 18 happy years in a wonderful community where we’ve had three further daughters.

We’ve also started a business, Bull Products, doing fire safety equipment. We’ve been able to employ a number of people from the community and bring the family members into the business too.

 

Watching the Markham kids grow up has been so lovely. You know, you see them as young children running around the office doing the paintings – we would get out the coloured markers – and then now we have Bianca working for us. She’s doing marketing and doing a great job. She’s turned into a beautiful young woman. It’s lovely to feel just a little part of that.

Hayley:

Yeah, you feel like a part of the family. I think that’s what makes it special working for them.

Ciara:

That’s true. I know companies say “oh, it’s like a family” but actually, it’s not. But, here, it is.

When I joined, there were only 20 people. There are now nearly 200. But I still feel special. Charles still comes over to ask me how I am, how my husband is, and how the dog is. They always have time for you, and I think it’s a very special touch.

I think anybody who’s joined the company has been here for a long time. For me, it’s the Markhams. They’ve just been so good to all of us, to everybody in the company. It’s more than gracious, it’s very nice. It’s kind, considerate, it’s just lovely. It’s really how people should be.

James:

I think it’s the kindness and the niceness. They’re always so lovely to talk to. We obviously look after the Plymouth Brethren with their businesses. We do their corporate events, and they really do know how to put a spread on.

Everyone looks forward to it, and we look forward to putting the spread on for them.

We’ve known Ross and Charlotte for a number of years now. They’ve been our neighbours, and they’re very lovely people. The daughters are lovely, always polite. We really enjoy having them as neighbours. It would be a sad day if they decide to leave. That’s how we feel!
