The Plymouth Brethren Christian Church —
US
The Plymouth Brethren Christian Church has been part of the fabric of British life for nearly two centuries.
The Plymouth Brethren Christian Church has been part of British life since the 1820s.
Today, congregations across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland continue the tradition of worship, community service, and a commitment to family life.
With congregations in cities, towns and villages across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, we are a vibrant Christian community rooted in Biblical teachings and dedicated to living out our faith through service to others.
Our story in Britain stretches back to the 1820s, when Christians first gathered in Plymouth to worship simply and sincerely.
Today, that same spirit of fellowship continues as our members meet together and support one another.
With over 19,000 members in the UK, we are united by a genuine care for one another and for the wider society in which we live. We are deeply committed to the British values of tolerance and mutual respect and play active roles within our local communities.
Here, you are invited to discover more about our Church and its rich history in the United Kingdom.
A life shaped by faith.
With roots stretching back nearly 200 years, the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church began here in Britain under the leadership of John Nelson Darby, a highly regarded Protestant theologian of the 19th century.
Our global community now numbers over 55,000 members worldwide. Here in the UK, our families live in ordinary homes within local neighbourhoods, in towns and cities the length and breadth of the country.
Our members run their own businesses, purchase homes, shop on local high streets, pay taxes and contribute to charitable causes. We employ people from both within our community and the wider population.
Whilst our values remain constant, we have evolved with the times. Today, we embrace technology for business, learning and everyday family life.
Living our faith in villages, towns and cities across Britain.
Care and compassion lie at the heart of everything we do. Our members generously give their time and resources to support a wide range of causes, actively seeking ways to help at local, national and international levels.
Across the UK, many of our members run family businesses that contribute meaningfully to their local economies. We pay taxes, employ people from the wider community, and invest in improving local facilities and amenities.
As part of a worldwide community, our members bring together a broad range of skills and practical resources that can be mobilised quickly in times of crisis. This global network enables us to respond effectively and make a genuine difference where it is needed most.
OneSchool Global
OneSchool Global (OSG) is an independent school network attended by children from our Church, with more than 120 campuses across 20 countries. The schools educate over 8,000 students and employ upwards of 1,800 teachers and staff from outside our Community. Many of our alumni go on to pursue higher education and careers within family-run businesses.
Rapid Relief Team
Driven by a spirit of service and a passion for giving back, the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) provides practical support to those in need with care and compassion. Founded by our Church in 2013, RRT works alongside charities, local authorities and emergency services across the UK, offering hands-on assistance during some of the most demanding situations communities face.
Any questions?
We recognise that our community can sometimes be misunderstood. We appreciate that our way of life may seem a little different, so we’ve put together answers to common questions to help address some of the misconceptions that exist about us and how we live.
